Keisha Schahaff Joins Opening Astronaut Panel

The Space Education Summit team is thrilled to announce that commercial astronaut Keisha Schahaff will also join us as part of the Astronaut Panel for our opening session on May 31, 2024! A tailblazing first astronaut from Antigua and Barbuda, Keisha flew to space with her daughter Anastatia on August 10th 2023 aboard Galactic-02, the second commercial flight by Virgin Galactic.

Growing up in Antigua, Keisha Schahaff would look up at the impressive display of stars above and find herself both inspired and also asking questions about the meaning of life. It was this quest for purpose that led Keisha to study Buddhism and ultimately train as a life coach to help others around her.

Keisha won two seats on Virgin Galactic through a philanthropic fundraising draw benefiting Space for Humanity – a non-profit organization. Their mission, to send more diverse humans to space and change perspectives, resonated with Keisha and encouraged her to enter. She was shocked and overjoyed to win, even more so when Sir Richard Branson paid a surprise visit at her home in Antigua to share the news! Keisha chose her youngest daughter Anastatia, a college philosophy and physics student, to be her companion.

We look forward to hearing Keisha’s thoughts on how we might best prepare students for humanity’s future in space. A FREE ONLINE event, the summit brings together educators, enthusiasts, and professionals from many fields… to explore ways humanity might prepare for the growing space economy and a rapidly approaching multi-planet future. Our planning team is inspired by the Overview Effect, and a desire to help more people benefit from it here on Earth. See past sessions and highlights on our YouTube Channel.
