Slooh: The Cosmic Classroom
Students can reach for the stars using Slooh's live online robotic telescope network.
Learn how schools are using Slooh to integrate space and earth science education into a standards-aligned curriculum, inspiring students to learn science and prepare for careers in space.
The session will include live telescope views from Slooh's observatories in Australia and the Canary Islands and a demonstration of Slooh's gamified platform and Quest learning activities.
With over a decade of experience as Slooh's Chief Astronomical Officer and VP of Observatory Engineering, Paul Cox has combined technical expertise with a keen eye for astrophotography. His work has honed Slooh's observatory technology to deliver unrivaled reliability and availability of the telescopes. Like many of the students using Slooh's online robotic telescopes, Paul's fascination with space began at a young age, and his unwavering commitment to demystifying space and sharing his deep astronomical knowledge with students is a passion that has never left him.
Paul's role at Slooh has taken him on a global journey, allowing him to witness the most awe-inspiring and ephemeral celestial events. Whether it's tracking a Near-Earth Asteroid whizzing past Earth from Slooh's Canary Islands observatory, with skies so black you can fall into them, or an expedition to the land of fire and ice to broadcast a vast Icelandic auroral storm, or traveling for days into the heart of Africa to capture a total solar eclipse.
"I feel privileged to capture and share these magical moments with our worldwide audience and students. The view from my ‘office’ certainly has to be the best in the world!”
In addition to his professional work, Paul leads a diverse and active life. In his spare time, he indulges in his love for adventure by flying his aerobatic biplane and racing cars, and nurtures his creative side by playing the piano.
