Space Prize: Empowering Young Women to Explore Careers in Space
Presenter: Kim Macharia & Mark Wagner, Ph.D.
We’re literally sending young women to space! The Space Prize Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit based in New York City, is empowering young women to participate in the growing space economy. Our mission is to catalyze innovation and a more hopeful future for humanity by inspiring young women to pursue careers in space. We work toward a vision of an inclusive space industry where talent is matched with opportunity. We do this through global contests with attention grabbing prizes, industry mentorships, a platform for peer networking, and open education resources for the students and teachers of the world. Why space? And why young women? Come learn the answers to these questions and more. Hear all about the NYC pilot underway right now - and learn how you can share the upcoming global contest with the young women you know and serve. This session includes a preview of the upcoming Space Prize Curriculum.
Kim Macharia is the Executive Director of the Space Prize Foundation, and Dr. Mark Wagner is the President. www.spaceprize.org
